My Winter Reading List (It’s Italy themed!)
Back in the fall, I did a fun poll on Instagram to see if anyone could guess where we decided to go for our five year wedding anniversary. It was so much fun to see where people guessed that we might have chosen! (Italy, obviously.) As the new year rolled around and I started working on my reading list for this year, I decided it might be fun to add in a little theme to my reading list for the winter & early spring. I had been holding on to a paperback copy of Under the Tuscan Sun that I knew I wanted to read before we leave. So, after a little bit of research, I decided to make this a list of books that are set somewhere in Italy!
I’ll fully admit to not getting anywhere close to my reading goal last year (75 books…HA), but I was concentrating on reading books for yoga teacher training, so I feel like I have a good excuse for not reading my “for fun” reading list. But, WOW, did I miss reading. I’ve always been one of those people with a book or an e-reader or an audiobook with them at all times, and I guess she’ll be back this year! Anyway, back to those books:
- Under the Tuscan Sun by Frances Mayes – currently reading, 70% done
- A Room With A View by E.M. Forster
- Oil & Marble by Stephanie Storey
- Dreaming of Venice by T.A. Williams
- Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter
It took me a while to finalize this short list, because I kept finding books that sounded like I would love them, but then I’d read so many bad reviews that I didn’t want to chance it. I’ve got 8 weeks to finish the list before we jet off to Rome, Positanto, Florence, and Venice, so spaces are limited on my pre-Italy list. My list includes a classic, one I’ve always wanted to read, one historical fiction novel, one easy read, and one that I’ve read over and over again. Oh, and if you happen to have any favorite books that are based in Italy…or about Italy, let me know! Maybe I’ll finish the list early and need to add more!
