Back when we were just dating, I came to Athens to visit S and he took me to breakfast at the cutest little local favorite: Mama’s Boy. And now it’s my favorite place to go for breakfast or brunch in Athens. I started out always ordering the Mill Town Breakfast, which never disappoints…but then I tried their Vegetable & Potato Hash.
If I were making a breakfast hash at home, I’d never have put together brussels sprouts, radishes, mushrooms, and potatoes, but it sure is a delicious blend when they top it with poached eggs and hollandaise. Plus, those biscuits! That yummy vegetable hash is my go-to order at Mama’s Boy, and with a hot soy latte it sure makes for a perfect little brunch. S usually orders the Mill Town Breakfast, coffee, and a half biscuit & gravy. We’re probably the most predictable pair in the place.
Sure, they also serve lunch, but I tend to stick to the breakfast menu, though I always consider ordering their Fried Green Tomato Sandwich or Grilled Pimiento Cheese. One of these days I’ll have to try something else, but for now I’m sticking to my favorite brunch.
