We’ve made it to Wednesday, but sometimes we still need a little something to get us through the rest of the week. I decided to try throwing together my own little spin on a dirty vodka martini for today’s ‘cocktail hour.’ I wanted to keep it a little lighter, since sometimes these martinis can feel a little heavy, you know?
I added a little twist to this dirty vodka martini by using jalapeno stuffed olives and the brine from them to have just a hint of spice to them.

After I threw these in the cocktail shaker, I realized that I didn’t have any martini glasses, so into the trusty stemless wine glasses (from my wedding) they went, and I laid my olive garnish across the top of the glass. We dropped our olives right into the drinks, but they sure looked pretty on top of the glasses on these little bamboo picks.
I really enjoy how light these dirty vodka martinis taste. I tend to have bad luck when I order a dirty vodka martini; they always seem to add too much brine and feel really heavy (and salty), so making my own version is the perfect solution. Of course, we love olives in our house, so I always find myself snacking on a couple of extras.
I have a feeling we’ll be whipping these dirty vodka martinis up for our next little girls’ night.
Do you have a favorite cocktail that you’d like to see lightened up? I’m in the market for something new to work with.
