This past weekend, Stephen and I celebrated our one year wedding anniversary with a weekend trip down to Orlando to visit Disney World and Universal Studios. It was the perfect celebration for us to spend the weekend acting like kids and wandering around theme parks. We packed SO much into the time we were there, but I wouldn’t change a thing about our trip (except for maybe the shoes I wore…my feet still hurt!)
On Friday night we headed into the Magic Kingdom around 5:30 to ride all the rides we really wanted to while the lines were short…and for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. Joined by one of my oldest friends, who is now a regular at Disney since moving to Orlando, we wandered around the park and took our turns at The Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, and the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train before catching the Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular and the Boo to You Parade.
Saturday we got up early to get over to Epcot early and get in line to ride Soarin’, which was totally worth the early wake up call. We spent all day hopping between the parks, starting with Epcot and then moving to Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Magic Kingdom (again), and then ended the night by strolling through the Epcot Food & Wine Festival. I have to say, my favorite ride in all of the Disney parks was the Tower of Terror. It was the one ride I had picked out that I couldn’t miss, having always heard people talk about it when they returned from a trip to Disney.
We spent our actual anniversary at Universal Studios…specifically to spend the day in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, but I’ll save those images for later. I can’t believe it’s been a year since we got married! All I know is that I couldn’t be happier about it.
