Summer! It’s in full swing (and has been for a little while now), and the heat has had me dreaming up ice cold cocktail recipes lately. For some reason I decided to make a gin cocktail recipe, since I’d usually create a vodka-based cocktail in the summer. Since gin can be quite botanical, I wanted to pair it with something that would bring out the flavors. So, what about earl grey tea? It’s one of my favorite blends and it also makes a really nice iced tea.
Quick side story: we started drinking iced earl grey tea after we went to Jamaica, because when we ordered iced tea at restaurants there, it was always earl grey. If you haven’t tried it, brew some strong earl grey, pour it over ice, and add a little slice of citrus fruit. It’s pretty tasty. Now, on to that gin cocktail recipe…
This cocktail (that I keep wanting to call a Gin & Tea) was a quarantine creation and I’ve got to say, it’s really refreshing. It’s the perfect cocktail to mix up and sip while reading in your favorite chair on the porch. (Ok, so we’ve also done some work on our back patio recently, and that’s where I like to sit and have a cocktail now.) Lightly sweet, with a little squeeze of lemon and tastes like summer. Also, I bought these 99-cent tumblers just for this recipe, but we use them all. the. time.
