It’s about time to start planning a little beach vacation for the summer, and time for me to share the final post in my Emerald Coast Travel Guide Series. Naturally, since my last visit was all about the Gulf to Table movement, this one is chock full of a few more places to get some good grub.
For fresh sushi: Make your way to Harbor Docks, which has been a part of the Gulf to Table movement since 1979, and find out what their fresh fish of the day is. When we were there it happened to be the tuna, so I promptly ordered a couple of their gorgeous sushi rolls. Also, be sure to snack on their mini corn muffins, the jalapeno ones are especially tasty.
For a sweet treat: Head to downtown Ft. Walton Beach when you find yourself craving something sweet and pay a visit to A Cupcakery by the Sea. It’s a cute little shop with a ton on fantastic cupcake flavors. I know Beth and I had a hard time deciding which ones to pick! I settled on their Chocolate Coffee Toffee Cupcake, and that thing was out of this world. With so many pretty cupcakes in the shop, I don’t think you’d be disappointed in any of their flavors.
For dinner: Our final night out, we went to dinner at The Black Pearl. We got to sample a few of their appetizers while we looked over the menu, and I’ve got to tell you to ask about the tuna tartare, it was so a delicious (and light) appetizer paired with plantain chips. I finally decided on the Blackened Scallops, and if you’re a fan of a good scallop, ORDER THESE. And then make sure you don’t pass up ordering the Oreo Bread Pudding to pass around the table. I think this was the only dessert that we finished off during the whole trip.
Hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know a little about some fantastic places to check out along the Emerald Coast and the Gulf to Table movement! Make sure to check our Part 1 and 2:
