Over the past year or so, I’ve been testing a few different natural deodorants to find out which of them work best for me. We’ve all heard the rumors about regular deodorant and its bad reputation. I’m no expert on the ingredients in regular deodorant either, but I try to do what is best for my body whenever I can. And natural deodorant is a fairly easy change to make, even though it is a process to find the right one for you. Everyone won’t have the same results, because our bodies are all different! Still, I’ve had a few chats with other people about all the different natural deodorants that I’ve tried…and the general consensus is that I should share the ones I like the most.
So, here are the five different natural deodorants that I tested out:
- Schmidt’s & Schmidt’s Sensitive
- Piperwai Activated Charcoal
- Kiss My Face
- Native & Native Sensitive
- Lavanila Sport Luxe
I’m pretty active, so I wanted to make sure these natural deodorants would stand up to a hard workout, along with just being good for everyday wear. When it comes to deodorant, I definitely did not want one that left me extra sweaty, even though I haven’t worn antiperspirant for years. And no one wants to be smelly, am I right? Now, I have fairly sensitive skin and had reactions to Schmidt’s, Schmidt’s Sensitive, and a couple of the Kiss My Face versions. After using them for a couple of months straight, my favorites are definitely Native, Lavanila Sport Luxe, and Piperwai.
The Best Natural Deodorants: Top 3
Lavanila Sport Luxe
This is one of my more recent purchases, but I picked up a travel size to fill out my Sephora order (y’all know how that goes.) I really like the texture of Lavanila’s deodorant, if that makes any sense. It’s nice and smooth and the Sport Luxe scent is fresh, but not too strong. I don’t often wear this one when I’m heading to the gym, it’s definitely more of an everyday deodorant than one to wear to the gym. I keep the mini version of this one in my purse to reapply if needed throughout the day and also picked up a full size because I do think that this one has a nice scent and goes on smoothly.

Piperwai Activated Charcoal
Of my top three, this is my least favorite. A lot of people really love this one (and my husband actually uses it now), but I found the scent to be a little strong for me. It’s all essential oils, including bergamot, clary sage, clove leaf, eucalyptus, lavender, lemongrass, mandarin, peppermint, rosemary, thyme, and tea tree. I mean, that’s a lot of scent! But mainly it smelled a little masculine when I wore it, which will be different for everyone. My sister-in-law is a nurse and she swears by this one to wear while she’s working (although she uses the original version, and not the stick version.) As for the texture of this one, it’s ok——I felt like it was a little bit more rough to apply than some of the others that I tried out.

Native & Native Sensitive
As you can probably tell, these are probably my favorite natural deodorants. The first on that I tried was a seasonal scent, Lemon Cake (sadly it’s not available anymore!) And then I grabbed another seasonal scent, Peppermint & Sugarcane, and their Coconut & Shea scent. I keep one in my gym bag and snagged a couple of minis that I have stashed around. I rotate which scent I wear, but Native is my current favorite deodorant to wear when I’m headed to a spinning class or a rocket yoga class. I’ve been really impressed with how well these work on a daily basis and at the gym. I think their most popular scent is the Coconut & Vanilla, which I have in a mini and it’s a nice beachy scent. (Currently, I’m loving the Coconut & Shea scent.)
