It’s officially spooky season and I’m ready to start watching my favorite Halloween movies. To be honest, I’ve been watching my way through the same list of movies every October for a while now. In college it was a big stack of DVDs, and these days you can find pretty much anything on some kind of streaming service.
Over the years it’s gotten to be a pretty good list (or at least I think so). Now, not all of these are actually scary…or just Halloween movies. I just prefer to watch these leading up to Halloween. As a side note: I don’t enjoy gory horror movies, so you won’t find any of that on my list, aside from a couple of slasher films.
- Hocus Pocus
- Scream (1-4)
- Sleepy Hollow
- Young Frankenstein
- Ghostbusters
- It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
- Practical Magic
- Secret Window
- Halloween (1978)
- The Addams Family
- The Addams Family Values
- The Nightmare Before Christmas
- The Sixth Sense
- Rear Window
- Edward Scissorhands
- The Shining
- Beetlejuice
- What Lies Beneath
- The Silence of the Lambs
- Interview with a Vampire
I think this is a pretty good list, but I’m always open to adding more spooky movies to my list. What are your favorite Halloween movies?
