One of the best things about visiting new places is getting to learn a little about the history of any given place. When I visited St. Simon’s island a few weeks ago, we stayed at the sweetest little resort, that’s been around for years and years. The King & Prince Club was originally opened as a seaside dance club in 1935, how cool is that? You can find snapshots of it framed around the resort, and memorabilia from the years as it changed and evolved with the times. The main hotel building opened in 1941, served as a naval training facility during World War II, and then was reopened as a resort in 1947. So much history is packed into this little island resort, and while it’s gone through multiple renovations and transformed into a more modern version of the original resort, you can still appreciate all of the places it’s been. The pool area runs right up to the water’s edge, where you can relax & read under an umbrella and listen to the waves (with a cocktail, of course…I recommend their frozen lemonade).
Have you been to St. Simon’s Island?
