Last weekend in Charleston, a few of us went wandering the city to find a spot where we shot some photos during last year’s trip to the city. While snapping a few photos and admiring the unique fencing around their patio, someone popped their head out the door and we learned that the little building we all thought was empty is a stunning little wine tasting room called Mira. After a peek inside the tasting room at the gorgeous details they’ve included there, we made our way to lunch and to finish up our photos.
I couldn’t stop thinking about that gorgeous Charleston tasting room, so after our workshops on Saturday I wandered the few blocks from the hotel while my roomies napped and spent some time chatting with Victoria and sipping Mira wine. Since I showed up at a fairly odd our for a wine tasting, I had the whole room to myself, with all that gorgeous Charleston sun shining through the windows. I learned all about the different regions where their grapes are grown—they even have soil from each location so that you can see the differences from each vineyard location. If you’re a wine-lover, hearing about the grapes and the differences in the growing regions is fascinating!
Vanessa even shared some interesting facts with me about different kinds of wine, blending and percentages requirements for certain types. During my visit, I tasted their Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. Their beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon was my favorite (of course), but I enjoyed each and every one that I tasted. In general, I don’t drink Chardonnay and this one was smooth & crisp and perfect for summer. We talked about wine, books, and Charleston while I sipped on each of my samples. It was the perfect environment for an afternoon break from the hustle. If you find yourself in Charleston, wander over to Queen Street and find that gorgeous wine tasting room.
