Having a routine is a pretty good thing. I was always a little lazy when I was in high school and college, but these days I try to stick to a routine when I’m getting ready to turn in for the night. It’s so important to take good care of yourself, but it’s also a good way to wind down every night. You know, get your mind and body into bedtime mode. So, here’s what I try to do each night, but I’ve got to tell you the truth: some nights it only includes taking off my makeup and brushing my teeth.
1. Put up hair. This is not a drill. I’ve never had long hair, but I’ve been growing mine out (aside from getting bangs last winter) and long hair is no joke. At the end of the day, I’ve got to brush out all the tangles and put my hair up in one of these soft scrunchies.
2. Makeup Remover. While I don’t wear a full face of makeup every day, I always put a little bit on, mainly a little CC Cream, blush, and mascara. So when I’m ready to wind down, I always make sure to take off my makeup with a little bit of this or a little bit of that. If I’m being honest, when I was younger I didn’t always do this…but it’s so important to take the day off.
3. Wash face. Just do it. As much as I want to take of my makeup and go straight to bed, this is a must.
4. Toner, moisturizer and Eye Cream. Again, the older I get, the more I try to take care of my skin. So, in the last couple of years, I’ve started trying to figure out the perfect routine to keep my skin looking and feeling healthy. These days, I use a toner, a good moisturizer, and a little eye cream [almost] every night.
5. Brush teeth. Yes, this is my final step. I’ve got to go to bed with a minty fresh mouth, and ever since I picked up this Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum Connected Sonic Electric Toothbrush at Bed Bath and Beyond, my teeth have been feeling extra clean. No joke, the first time I tried this baby out, I hopped in the car with my husband and told him I felt like I just had my teeth cleaned at the dentist’s office. When I brought this brush home, I immediately downloaded the Phillips Sonicare App and connected the handle. The app is seriously so cool, and it helps you brush your pearly whites in the best way possible. I’m looking forward to showing off how clean and healthy my teeth are at my next dentist appointment (and that’s saying something because I do not like going to the dentist!)
