What’s more summery than a tart lemon cocktail? This tangy and sweet Honeysuckle vodka recipe is the perfect drink to enjoy on a warm spring evening when you need a little somethin’ special. Cathead Distillery was the first legal still in the state of Mississippi after prohibition was repealed in 1966. Make sure you read their story and find out the origin of their name, it’s pretty nifty if you ask me. As a native of the state, I always enjoy being given the opportunity to show a Mississippi businesses some love. Cathead was gracious enough to donate to our Birmingham Bloggers One Year Anniversary Bash last week, where we served up a lovely Spiked Honeysuckle Lemonade for the party people.
I think citrus-y flavors might be my favorite in cocktails. I usually go for a cocktail that’s not too sweet, with a little bite to it. My Honeysuckle Vodka Collins definitely fits that perfectly.
When I whip up one of these Honeysuckle Vodka Collins for myself, I tend to leave the simple syrup out of the mix–mainly to avoid the addition of the sugar, but also because sweet cocktails are not my favorite. Cathead’s Honeysuckle Vodka has the slightest little sweetness to it. If you grew up in a place like I did, you know that subtle, sweet taste of Honeysuckle and I know you’d enjoy this honeysuckle vodka. Add that to the tart lemon juice, and you’ve got yourself quite a perfect pairing.
