The older I get, the more I realize just how important it is to take care of your skin. When I was in high school and college, it was just important that I get my makeup off at night…otherwise, whatever. In the last couple of years I’ve started working hard to have a good routine for taking care of my skin and I’ve found a few favorites that have done wonders for my skin.
Just before my wedding, I went and had my a test run of my makeup done so that I would know what to have on hand for the big day. The lovely gal that did it told me that my skin was really, really dry and used this Moisture Surge gel moisturizer under my makeup. It feels heavenly when you put it on and soaks in beautifully without making your skin feel greasy. Ever since, I’ve been using it every day—especially in the summer & winter when my skin can get really dry.
Along with my moisturizer, I started using an anti-aging serum and Your Skin But Better CC Cream every day. The CC Cream has SPF 50 in it, and that makes me (and my dermatologist) very happy. Plus it has fantastic coverage & can be worn every day. The only issue I have with it is that my skin is in between Light & Fair, so I have to mix the two for it to blend properly.
Instead of using a standard makeup remover, I’ve been using Simple’s Micellar Water to remove my makeup and cleanse my face in the evenings. My skin is fairly sensitive, and using Micellar Water is a lot gentler and doesn’t irritate my skin. I’ve recently started using this daily microfoliant 3 days a week in the evenings after receiving a sample of this summer. It’s a perfect little refresher when you’re skin is feeling a little dull.
Every day, and most nights, I wash my face with this mild foaming cleanser and pair it with my Clarisonic Mia every other day for a deep clean. This cleanser is an absolute must for me, and can easily be picked up at pretty much any drugstore for a steal. I’ve tried so many cleansers over the years and this is the only one that I’ve stuck to for a long period of time (almost three years!)
