Working from home sounds like a dream to most people, and in so many ways it is. But it is also hard. It’s hard to turn off your work when your office is in your house. It’s been a little over four years since I started working remotely from my home office, and it is such a wonderful way to be able to work. I love it for the freedom it gives me to work from anywhere (and for the freedom to wear yoga pants pretty much every day.) But even though I have a fairly set schedule for when I’m online, I still find myself realizing near the end of the day that I’ve been inside all day, sitting at my desk.
So, lately I’ve been making it a point to get outside, away from my office every single day. One day it might be a lunchtime yoga class or a trip to the gym, and other days it’s just a trip to Target. And sometimes it’s driving over to my favorite coffee shop or meeting up with a few friends to shoot some photos for our blogs.
My Workweek Goal for Spring
This spring, I’m going to make it a point to take that lunch break and get away from my desk every day that I can. Of course that goal is to do so every single day, but there may be days where I have a time-sensitive project to work on and I can’t get away. And those days are going to happen. And those days I’ll give myself grace and get the work done. Even on busy days, it could just be sitting on my back patio for a few minutes and soaking up a little sun.
Over the last week or so, I’ve been working on this little goal and I already feel like it’s working its magic. I’m getting a whole lot of work done, sleeping a little better, and feeling refreshed. I mean…sometimes you just need to mix things up a little!
Are you setting any small goals this spring?
