I know I can’t be the only twenty-something who leans toward always having a little makeup on, even when you’re heading down to the beach or to lay by the pool. I’m not talking about a full face of makeup, just a little something to help keep the sun off my face…and to give me a little color (shout out to all the pale girls!) So, I teamed up with my friends over at It Cosmetics to put together some summer makeup essentials for a day at the pool or lying on the beach. These must-haves for summer will make a fab little travel makeup kit to toss in your purse or carry-on, too!
I tend to find the foundation that I wear most of the year to be much too heavy in the summer, so I switch to something a little bit lighter. This summer, I discovered a new light foundation that just so happens to be 50 SPF. I started wearing It Cosmetics’ CC+ last fall and it really did wonderful things for my skin, plus it has that built-in sunscreen that I love, too. I decided to try out their fluid foundation this summer and it’s perfectly light and easy to apply quickly without feeling like you’re wearing a lot of makeup.
I love a good natural eyeshadow palette, and this one is absolutely a new favorite for me. They’re all matte, aside from one that’s a pretty highlighting pearl shadow. Whether you just brush a little shimmer on your lids or give your eyes a little definition, an essentials palette is the way to go in the summer. Add a swipe of this fabulous mascara for a tiny bit of drama, then top the whole look off with a little bit of this lip & cheek stain. And I like to toss a compact of Bye Bye Pores pressed powder in my bag just in case I need to get rid of any crazy shine that happens in the summer heat.
