In anticipation of the Oscars coming up on February 22, some fellow bloggers and I have put together a fun, movie-themed menu of “Oscar Noms.” You’ll find the full menu with links and a giveaway near the bottom of this post, so make sure you make it to the end! We each chose a film from the list of nominees to base our menu items on. Just because it’s a little whimsical, I went with Into the Woods, knowing I wanted to create a fun cocktail. So, here you have The {Blueberry} Wish, inspired by the witch’s fabulous blue hair and the prologue, which you can listen to here.
When I decided to go with an Into the Woods theme, I couldn’t decide between these two ideas, so I also put together a little bar snack: Magic Garbanzo beans. The magic beans play a big part in the story line of Into the Woods, and crunchy roasted garbanzo beans make a great snack for grazing during cocktail time.
Of course, we though we’d include a little something special for our fabulous readers, so I have teamed up with 15 incredible bloggers to bring you an awesome giveaway!
One lucky reader will win a streaming media player — their choice of an Amazon Fire TV, an Apple TV or a Roku 3. It always seems to be a challenge to catch up on the year’s best films, so I’m thrilled to give you the chance to do so!
Each of the participating bloggers has prepared an Oscar-themed recipe, and we’re each up for best recipe! When you participate in the giveaway, be sure to vote for your favorite. The winning blogger will get $50 in cash! Check out our full menu:

The Blueberry Wish and Magic Garbanzo Beans
Ingredients
The Blueberry Wish
- 1 oz Blue Curacao
- 1.5-2 oz Blueberry Vodka
- .5 oz Lemon Juice
- 1-1.5 oz Club Soda or Sparkling Water
Magic Garbanzo Beans
- 1 can Garbanzo Beans (Chickpeas)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp Cinnamon
- 2 tbsp Sugar
Instructions
The Blueberry Wish
- Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice. Give it a little shake, and strain into a martini glass (or glass of your choice). Garnish with frozen blueberries, which I forgot to do.
Magic Garbanzo Beans
- Preheat oven to 400. Drain and rinse garbanzo beans. Spread them on a paper towel and pat dry, removing any loose skins.
- Toss in olive oil, then spread onto a baking sheet lined with a silpat.
- Roast for 25-30 minutes until crunchy.
- While they're cooking, mix together the ground cinnamon and sugar. Once you remove them from the oven, quickly toss them in the cinnamon sugar until thoroughly coated.
