It happened. Yesterday was my 30th birthday. For a while now people have been asking me how it feels to be turning 30 this year. Honestly? On Monday I was 29 and on Tuesday I turned 30. There were no tears, it wasn’t painful, and saying goodbye to my 20s didn’t stress me out. Getting older is a gift, even if it’s hard for us to look at it that way.
In my 20s…
In my 20s I shifted from sleeping in my makeup to always taking it off, washing my face, and following it up with a good serums and anti-wrinkle moisturizer…and I started to wear a whole lot more sunscreen. I began taking guitar lessons. I read books and re-read books. Trips were taken. In college, I met my now-husband and 6 years later we got married in the chapel on that college campus. I lived in Mississippi, Texas, Alabama, and Georgia. I found a love for practicing yoga and a local community. I may not have gone the traditional route for a southern girl, but I tried new things and explored and made wonderful friends.
Now that I’ve said goodbye to my 20s, I’m looking forward to my 30s and all the fun they’re going to be. No tears, here. There was, however, frosé, cake, and a bottle of champagne. Cheers to 30!
