It’s that time of year, when everything is pink and red and covered in hearts. So why not make the most of it and throw together some festive Valentine’s Day treats? I just needed an excuse to put a fun twist on an old classic and make some bright pink, sprinkle covered rice krispies treats. These are super simple to make, and they’re a ton of fun. I know S has been snacking on them this weekend, so I think they must taste pretty good, too!
You can use any recipe you want for the rice krispies treats, I just went by this one. When the treats have set, cut out hearts (or any shape you’d like) with a sturdy cookie cutter. For dipping, you can use any kind of chocolate, but I chose to use Wilton Candy Melts. These are the really easy to deal with, especially if you’re looking for something quick and easy, plus they come in all kinds of fun colors. So melt your chocolate or candy melts in the microwave, then dip your treats and set them on wax paper to set. The candy melts don’t set too quickly–I was able to dip eight hearts before adding the sprinkles without the chocolate setting. Then, just let them set for 30 minutes to an hour and then snack away!
