I am so excited to share this beautiful beach cottage from our weekend in Tybee Island this summer. If you’ve been around for a while, you’ll know that Stephen and I took this little weekend road trip in June. It was SO nice to spend a couple of days relaxing a by the pool, reading on the porch, and exploring the little island. While on that trip, we realized just how long it had been since we went somewhere with no plans or commitments. It was NICE. We were lucky enough to be able to stay in this beautiful beach cottage called Big Wave, which also happened to have it’s own private pool in the backyard. (I’ll be honest, it was really hard to leave that pool!)
The Best Place to Stay on Tybee Island
I’ll be honest, I couldn’t think of a better place to stay during a visit to Tybee Island. We truly had everything we needed in the cottage. If we had gone grocery shopping, we might have never actually left the house!
Every single room is beautifully decorated and you definitely feel like you’re in a beach cottage. This house has enough room to sleep 10 people, so it’s the perfect place for a family or group getaway. Aside from the pool, the screened-in front porch was my favorite spot in the house. We ate lunch at the patio table and read in the porch swing during a thunderstorm.
I can’t even really tell you how gorgeous this house is, you’ll just have to take my word for it (and look at these photos). I mean…ALL. THE. HEART. EYES. There are two master suites, bunk beds, a twin bedroom, and a queen bedroom. And, yes, there are plenty of bathrooms! There’s one in each master suite, plus two additional and a half bath upstairs. Off the kitchen there’s a nice, big laundry room, which I always appreciate when I’m traveling. You never know when you might need to do a quick load of laundry!
There’s even a unique lounge area under the house!
Oops, I almost forgot to mention that under the cottage, they’ve set up the coolest outdoor “lounge” area! You can enter it through the pool area and there’s lounge seating, a ping pong table, corn hole boards, etc. How fun is that?! I feel like they’ve thought of everything.
I mean, the only other thing that I can say is that we will definitely be back. Big Wave was the perfect place for a quiet weekend trip (even though summer on Tybee Island is quite crowded!) It’s also a perfect spot for a getaway with your girlfriends. I’m about due for a good girls’ weekend and we might have to book a weekend at Big Wave for our next one. Talk about a fun weekend with friends!
And I’m one of those odd people who enjoys visiting the beach during the off season. You know, when it might be too cold for swimwear but you can wrap up in a sweater or a cozy blanket with a book? That’s the stuff.
Whether you’re headed to Tybee Island for the weekend or a week, I highly recommend checking out Big Wave.
