When we took our trip to Asheville last month, we knew we couldn’t miss a tasting and tour at Wicked Weed’s Funkatorium. My husband and I have both become big fans of sours, and Wicked Weed is the place to go for a good one (or all of the good ones).We wandered around downtown Asheville for a couple of hours before finding our way down to the Funkatorium.
A Tour and Tasting at The Funkatorium
The space is airy, and you walk in to a nice bar area before making your way back to where the magic happens. The tour manager, Jesse, kicked things off with a little about the history of Wicked Weed Brewing and the unique qualities of their beer. He took us on a quick tour of the Funkatorium to see how Wicked Weed brews their ales. And then we got to the best part: the tasting. I’ve got to say, I’m pretty sure we both liked every beer in the tasting. My personal favorite (I think) is their La Bonte Plum, but I also loved the Recurrant. We spent a little time browsing the bottle shop and packed up a box of all of our favorites, plus a couple of glasses and shirts.
