A couple of weekends ago, Stephen and I made our way up to Asheville and spent a few days soaking up the cool mountain air and wandering around Asheville and Black Mountain to celebrate our second anniversary. Of course, we set out to find a unique wine tasting in Asheville. So on a rainy Friday afternoon, we drove out to visit a little winery called Addison Farms Vineyard. Nestled in the mountains just outside of Asheville, Addison Farms is the perfect place to sit and sip wine while you look out at the gorgeous vineyard. Add a little light rain in the fall and it can’t be beat.
We dropped in at the tasting room and tried out a couple of gorgeous Meads, before moving on to the rest of the Addison Farms lineup. Our favorite part of the tasting was hearing the story behind each of their wines. It adds something to the experience when there are stories to go with everything, and when they involve family. Jeff and Diane, who run Addison Farms Vineyard, built their vineyard on the land where Jeff grew up. You can see his grandparents’ home through the windows of the tasting room. And Diane is the designer behind their gorgeous wine labels. It’s a true family-run business, and we had a blast sipping wine and hearing Jeff tell their stories. There’s a lot of heart in their vineyard, and and it’s worth the short drive to experience. And I guarantee you’ll go home with a couple of bottles. Our favorites are the Smokehouse Red and Structure and we made sure to grab a couple of bottles to take home.
